Dear Valued Doctors,

Please be reminded that under Section 10 (2) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, all medical practitioners are required to notify the nearest District Health Office upon detecting or being informed of the following communicable diseases during foreign workers' health screening.

1. Tuberculosis
2. HIV
3. Leprosy
4. Syphilis
5. Hepatitis B
6. Hepatitis C
7. Malaria
8. Filariasis

All cases must be promptly notified using the latest version of ‘Notification Form of Infectious Diseases Rev/2023' or via Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (MoH) e-Notification system. If you are notifying for a Filariasis case, kindly notify it under ‘Others’ and specify it as ‘Lymphatic Filariasis’.

Failure to notify may result in enforcement action by Health Officers under the same Act. Please contact your nearest District Health Office for any inquiries.

To ensure a seamless and timely renewal process, employers are reminded to initiate the health screening renewal at least 3 months before their foreign worker’s PLKS expiration date. This proactive step helps ensure full compliance with Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia’s regulations. To ensure employers stay on track and are able to renew on time, we will send three reminders to Employer’s registered email address with FOMEMA.

Employers can easily manage and complete the registration renewal through the FOMEMA Online Portal.

FOMEMA Review denotes the final stage of the FOMEMA medical examination process for the worker.

FOMEMA Review involves thoroughly reviewing all report submissions from the clinic and laboratory before the final result is submitted to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

The process generally takes three (3) to five (5) working days from the Certification Date submitted by the clinic.

Employers and panel agencies with foreign workers in both non-appealable and appealable cases must be fully informed of their appeal options as outlined by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia.

While foreign workers in non-appealable categories are subject to repatriation, their registered employers or agencies may submit an appeal if they meet specific eligibility criteria. These criteria are important to ensure fairness while remain committed to safeguarding the Malaysian populace.

These appeals must be submitted through the FOMEMA Online Portal within two (2) weeks of the certification date. Adherence to these regulations is critical for compliance and for maintaining a smooth, efficient appeal process.
